All the Songs are Excellent

Audio as well as Video - nicely picturised on Rekha and Vinod Mehra

Lyrics are by Gulzar and Music is by R.D. Burman.

The movie is okay, not my favourite, but all the songs in this movie are my favourite.

This film was released in February 1978. It was directed by Manik Chatterjee and produced by N.N. Sippy.

I give the songs a rating of 10/10 and the film a rating of 6/10.

Rekha and Prema Narayan acted well. Vinod Mehra could have done better.

That's my opinion. Yours may differ. So to see how good the movie is, you can click here.

Did You Know?

Did you know she used to drape a saree over her shirt and trousers and read the news on TV?

Well, I didn't.

Did you know she was a very sportive person and so plunged into depression when she couldn't play any sports because of her illness?

That is when her sister encouraged her to become a TV Presenter.

Also, did you know that she cried a lot after doing the Aaj Rapat Jaayen song with Amitabh Bachchan because she was not comfortable dancing in a saree?

Amitabh Bachchan consoled her a lot to make her feel better.

Intriguing facts like these you'll find in the Video Biography at the end of this playlist I've made on Smita Patil - a very promising actress who died at the young age of 31.

And now let me end this Blog with some Quotes for you:

Tomorrow is the first day of the rest of your life. - Anon

People who love only once in their lives are....shallow people. What they call their loyalty, and their fidelity, I call either the lethargy of custom or their lack of imagination. - Oscar Wilde

To love at all is to be vulnerable. Love anything, and your heart will certainly be wrung and possibly broken. If you want to make sure of keeping it intact, you must give your heart to no one, not even to an animal. Wrap it carefully round with hobbies and little luxuries; avoid all entanglements; lock it up safe in the casket or coffin of your selfishness. But in that casket- safe, dark, motionless, airless--it will change. It will not be broken; it will become unbreakable, impenetrable, irredeemable. - C.S. Lewis

You know that when I hate you, it is because I love you to a point of passion that unhinges my soul. - Julie de Lespinasse

Instead of putting others in their place, put yourself in their place. - Anon

Have you ever been in love? Horrible isn't it? It makes you so vulnerable. It opens your chest and it opens up your heart and it means that someone can get inside you and mess you up. You build up all these defenses, you build up a whole suit of armor, so that nothing can hurt you, then one stupid person, no different from any other stupid person, wanders into your stupid life...You give them a piece of you. They didn't ask for it. They did something dumb one day, like kiss you or smile at you, and then your life isn't your own anymore. Love takes hostages. It gets inside you. It eats you out and leaves you crying in the darkness, so simple a phrase like 'maybe we should be just friends' turns into a glass splinter working its way into your heart. It hurts. Not just in the imagination. Not just in the mind. It's a soul-hurt, a real gets-inside-you-and-rips-you-apart pain. I hate love. - Neil Gaiman

It is with words as with sunbeams - the more they are condensed, the deeper they burn. - Robert Southey

It is twice the pleasure to deceive the deceiver. - Jean De La Fontaine

Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that. - Martin Luther King Jr.

A flower blossoms where there is love, not where there is apathy. - Aparna Chatterjee

And now, as always, before I take leave of you, here are some nice, inspiring quotes for you.

Three grand essentials to happiness in this life are something to do, something to love, and something to hope for. - Joseph Addison

Doing the best at this moment puts you in the best place for the next moment. - Oprah Winfrey

Courage is fear holding on a minute longer. - George S. Patton

Immature poets imitate; mature poets steal; bad poets deface what they take, and good poets make it into something better, or at least something different. - T.S. Eliot

If we take the generally accepted definition of bravery as a quality which knows no fear, I have never seen a brave man. All men are frightened. The more intelligent they are, the more they are frightened. - George S. Patton

Politics is not a bad profession. If you succeed there are many rewards, if you disgrace yourself you can always write a book. - Ronald Reagan

We herd sheep, we drive cattle, we lead people. Lead me, follow me, or get out of my way. - George S. Patton

Politics is supposed to be the second oldest profession. I have come to realize that it bears a very close resemblance to the first. - Ronald Reagan

You will never be the best at anything, if you never do your best at something. - Auliq Ice

If there is a heaven and hell, then I wonder, are the people in heaven asking God to forgive and stop the suffering of those burning in hell? And if not, what does that say about the people in heaven? - Jason Bourke

If everyone is thinking alike, then somebody isn't thinking. - George S. Patton

You are just as attached to what you hate as what you love. - Domo Geshe

Just sitting here thinking about life; it really is too short to waste it on nonsense and things that aren't gonna matter to you 10 years from now. We all should be working towards leaving a legacy and leaving stuff for our kids and grandkids, and being remembered years after we're gone. If you died right now, would you be happy with the life you lived? - Evan Stark

From death springs life and from the graves of great patriots springs a great nation. - Patrick Henry Pearse

Songs + Quotes

Today I bring to you a new playlist on one of my favourite film personalities.

He would have turned 70 next year had he been here with us.

He was an actor, producer and director who has charmed us with his good looks, enchanting smiles and superb acting in over 100 Bollywood movies.

He was born in Amritsar in 1945, has married thrice during his lifetime but sadly died of a massive heart attack in Mumbai in 1990 at the young age of 45.

In the 1965 All India Talent Contest held by United Producers and Filmfare - more than 10,000 contestants participated out of which he became the male runner-up and the contest was won by another brilliant actor Rajesh Khanna.

Well, if you want to know more about the male runner-up and how well he acts :-) you've got to see this playlist which takes you to his musical world of movies.

https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLAP2Wr4O1JamQiMGz-9DL37zJKvAcK4f6

He's given us some stellar performances both as a hero and as a supporting actor.

There is also a bio-video (biography) at the end of this playlist.
